Old motorcycles never die

Mirko introduced me to a man here who runs an excavating business whose real passion is old motorcyles. He has a half-dozen or so BMWs and Harleys from or before the war, which is restoring. He started one of the Harleys for me. It sounded great.

The story here in Europe is that American messengers riding Harleys during the War had a much longer life-span than Germans; the Germans were on the road, while the Americans were stopped, fixing their Harleys, which they then used to hide behind when attacked.
