Been real busy, little time for internet. We're into our last week of classes -- hard to believe. On the one hand it seems we just got here; on the other that we've been here for months. Just three more days of classes. Graduation Friday, students leave Saturday, a relaxing weekend, then off for a couple days as a group of teachers, to a resort up near Brodnica, the lake country of northeastern Poland.
Getting pictures up isn't easy, so I'm limiting myself to a few at a time.
Saturday night we went to a fado concert at the old town hall. Great music! Fado is from Lisbon, a kind of cabaret music dating back 70 or more years. The concert was sold out, but the windows were open from the 2nd floor, so we listened in the courtyard. When the concert was nearly over, they let us in.
Last night we heard a rising star in Polish alternative rock, a young woman named Gaba Kulka and her band, at the old castle. Chimney swifts above the ruins, very evocative.
It rains here almost every day -- the influence of the Baltic. Sunny in the morning, rains in the afternoon, then clears up for beautiful, clear evenings.
I'll be back!
